Her Campus College Fashion Week celebrated real women’s bodies by promoting female empowerment and showcasing styles that flatter and inspire young women. This event included Insta-worthy photo ops, a fashion show, a glam squad providing hair styling and makeup application, and a DIY accessory and jewelry bar. Below is a list of event highlights and trends to spice up your fall wardrobe.

Affordable Fall Fashion

Everyone wants to be spotted wearing the hottest fashion trends, which can be tough for students on a budget. While it’s important to build a wardrobe capsule with essential basics and items that never go out of style, trends come and go quickly. If you’re looking to update your wardrobe, consider incorporating a few inexpensive items that are on trend. Primark , an Irish clothing and accessories retailer, is the site to go for must-have styles at amazingly low prices. Incorporate animal print, sailor hats, plaid pieces, and oversized coats into your wardrobe

Get Your Pink On

October is a time to raise awareness and funds for life-saving research that goes towards treatment and prevention during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Girls walked the down the runaway in pretty pink fashions that made a statement and showed support for those fighting cancer, those who survived and those who lost their battle. HCXO Shop is featuring a limited edition grl power baseball cap in millennial pink for the month for October. SABRE , a company that makes personal safety products, donated a $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for every snap and share captured at the event. If you’re looking to give the gift of safety this holiday season, consider a SABRE’s drink test that checks for common drugs used in DFSA and a portable pepper spray to keep the college-aged women in your life safe.

Feel Good Fabrics

This fall and winter, iconic fashion trends from the 90s are back in style. Luxurious velvet slip dresses and  crushed velour camis are soft and add some serious style to your look. Sleep Riot , a comfy and chic lounge and sleepwear brand for college-aged women, showcased their crushed velour swing tank and shorts on the runway. Hygge up your home this winter with cozy pajamas you’ll want to relax in all day long.

Graphic Tees

Tis’ the season for monogram and logomania. Instead of supporting overt branding by luxury fashion brands, girls strutted down the runway wearing shirts with strong and powerful messages. Ali & Ariel , the ultimate brand for sorority sisters with style, showcased their black and white GRL Power logo tee on the catwalk. This is the perfect shirt to celebrate the collective power of women.

Tie Waist Pants

High-waisted denim jeans and paper bag tie-waist pants are trending this season. Matter , a brand that uses sustainable sourced fabrics and designer-artisan collaborations, is giving heritage prints a modern makeover. Matter showcased geometric blockprints and nature-inspired wove motifs on pants, matching separates, and jumpsuits.

Hair & Makeup

Tempted to test out a new makeup or hair trend? While some trends only look good on certain skin tones and types of hair, you won’t know until you try them out. College Fashion Week attendees got to choose from 1 of 2 featured hair or eye looks at the Ultra Beauty Bar. Visit your local Ulta Beauty store to test out some new looks and products.

Makeup is the essential tool to bring a look altogether, but it’s important to start with a good base. Protect your pretty lips from cold, dry weather with EOS organic lip balms packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter, and jojoba oil. EOS gave the childhood ball pit a functional and fabulous upgrade by filling a pit with EOS’s sphere lip balms for fun photo-ops.

Holographic or iridescent finishes are a great away to draw attention to the lips. Almay’s Cosmic Café showcased and sampled their Almay Goddess Gloss which can be worn solo, mixed, and layered. Pucker up and let your inner and outer goddess glow.

Accessories

Accessories are the finishing touch every outfit needs. Girls got to create their own personalized bracelets using alphabet beads, tassels and dessert inspired charms as well as pins that can be used to jazz up your favorite denim jacket, backpack or purse.

Whatever fashion trends you decide to rock this season, carry yourself with confidence and a smile.
