Greenport Harbor Brewing is crafting the next beer in the Local to Locals series, Local to Locals Hazy IPL.
“When presented with the opportunity to be included in the Local to Locals series we jumped at the chance to showcase the IPL style and scale up production,” said Jon Kelly, Sales Director from Greenport Harbor Brewing.
Head brewer, Pat Alfred experimented with an IPL style (India Pale Lager), known as the cousin the IPA. IPL’s go through a cold fermentation leading to a smooth, clean tasting beer. Alfred has been working on an IPL for a couple of years in his OG series, which was brewed out of the original Greenport Brewery and Tasting Room. He uses old and new progressive methods of brewing and to create a range of styles. It’s hop bill features boil additions of Dr. Rudi and Apollo with dry hop additions of both hops as well as Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe. The beer is finished off with a lager yeast for a nice crisp finish.
This easy to drink beer is only 6% abv and is available starting late next week at participating beverage centers and at the Greenport Harbor Peconic tasting room.
